Just finished a quick loop of the planet. I was heading west. Can't figure out if I gained a day or lost a day. I need a globe, a calendar, maybe a slide rule...and some sleep.

The Visa ad is wrapped and I'm heading home for an extended travel break.

We are filming in Seville, which happens to maybe, probably be the burial place of at least most, if not all, of Christopher Columbus.

 

He was originally buried in the Americas, as was his wish, but when Spain ceded portions of Dominica to France, they didn't want to risk losing his remains to a foreign power, so they shipped him around from place to place until he finally settled here.

Today, the Dominican Republic claims he's actually still buried in a lighthouse over there, but science assures us that at least some of him is in that box -- for whatever that's worth.

Madrid, Spain

The flight from Dubai to Madrid took us about 70 miles from Libyan airspace and less than 200 miles from the fighting in Benghazi. A strange thing to notice while you're watching "Little Fockers."

My passionate love/hate of Dubai is saddled with yet another layer of ambivalence. While I'm living out this fantasy of geek tech opulence, we are straddling the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan. And I can't help thinking someone in one of the private cabins up front is looking out the window and snickering as he twirls his mustache.
